Collin Provost – tumblr time

This Collin Provost interview has everything from skateboard politics to hookers and cocain. That’s what happens when you download a questionaire from tumblr.

What is the one thing you would like me to know about yourself?

I’d like to drink beer and hang out with my friends.

What are you most proud of?

Still traveling. Being on trips. Mostly that’s about it. I don’t know, still been at skateboarding.

For how many years are you traveling now?

About 20 years. I started traveling when I was 13.

How many months a year are you on the road?

More than I am at home. Usually I would say at least seven or eight months. Definitely more away than I am at home. It makes coming home so much better.

"I am living the life right now and I am trying to live the dream as long as possible"

Is Religion important to you?

No, not at all.

Do you follow politics.

Nope, don’t really care about it. Skateboardpolitics maybe a little bit.

What is your most treasured possession and why?

My skateboard. It is kind of corny but cool. I don’t know, my home obviously, my dogs and all that kind of shit, just being home. Family and girlfriend.

Who is looking after your dogs when you are not at home?

My parents or my girlfriend.

What is your favorite month of the year and why?

Summer. So I’ll go with July. Hang at the beach all day. Kickt it, surf, skate. Party your ass off for 4th of July. That is always nice.

Favorite book or favorite movie?

I don’t really read too much so I’ll go with movie. I don’t know, I’ll go with a classic “Fast Times at Ridgement High”. Or some shit like that, some fun stuff. Or the good Will Ferrell movies.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Hopefully still doing this. If not probably working somewhere, doing something. I don’t know. But Hopefully still skating. Cruising around.

You don’t get bored of it when you do it that much?

No. Different trips, different people, different good times. I can never get sick of this. I am living the life right now and I am trying to live the dream as long as possible. We’re doing it. I am not really good at anything else and I don’t have anything else, so that’s about it. So I live this as long as I can. And I probably end up working at skateboarding after.

So you wanna be a team manager or something?

Nah, not really a team manager. It might be fun but I don’t want to take care of all the shitheads. It would be also a lot of hard times. I am one of the shitheads right now. [laughs]

Heath [Kirchart] was your teammanager, right?

That was awesome. Best dude. I didn’t know him that much but having him as manager I got to know him. He is just a fucking awesome rad dude. He is scary. Like, damn that is fucking Heath. And then you realize he is that really nice cool dude. And he has been everywhere and has done everything, so you can get a lot of information from him.

If you were an animal in the wild, what would you be?

Probably a giraffe cruising around. Tall as fuck, a weirdo. Cruising around with the posse.

Who was your hero as a child?

Andrew Reynolds, Heath and of course Ed [Templeton]. I grew up in the same town as him and saw him skating all the time in the skatepark. He doesn’t remember me, but I remembered him obviously.

It is rad now that you can travel with those guys.

Yah. It also was the time back then when everyone lived in Huntington Beach. So I got to see all my heroes in the skateparks. Like ahh those guys are the best I want to be like them. You saw their video parts and then in real life. I would never go talk to them, but you were like ahh it is them. So Sick. It was really cool growing up and watching those guys skate.

If you won the lottery. How would you spend the money?

Probably just chilling. Make sure the homies are all good. Maybe build a house and have all my friends and family live with me. And fucking just chill till the end of time. Have like some weird hippie commune type of shit.

Talking about chilling. Describe your perfect holiday.

Jamaica was my perfect one. Smoking a ton of weed, drinking beer and hanging out in the ocean. Just kickin it. Fucking chillin the same with the drink. That is exactly what I want to be doing. I am actually going to Croatia tomorrow.

You have 6 more months to live. What will you do first?

Hookers and cocaine.

If you could live anywhere in the world. What would it be?

My home. I’ve been everywhere, and I like it. I like going home. I have too much family and friends there that I won’t be able to leave. It is too weird. I love traveling I love going around but I think I am pretty set. I love going places. I just like going home too. It just feels right. I don’t think I could live anywhere else. Everything is there surfing, skating and my friends, family. I could never leave.

Who is your favorite sports person outside of skateboarding?

Hockey is kind a cool, but I am not really into other sports. I guess it would be a surfer, but fuck I don’t really know. Maybe like some oldschool surfer. My dad was a big surfer. I wasn’t really into team sports, they fucking suck.

Where do you want to climb a mountain or a track across the desert?

Climb a mountain, easily. The glory at the top, is way better then dying all the way through the desert. Climb a mountain for sure. Once you see the view it is just awesome.

What was the first celebrity you had a crush on?

This like Kristen Stewart girl, but she is a lesbian. In the “In to the wild” movie, she was fucking hot. She was like kind a white trash and played guitar and had a good singing voice. I thought that is the one. I was real psyched on here. I like the kind a more whit trashy. [laughs] I am kinda into that shit.
